Dragon Ball Super (ドラゴンボール超スーパー Doragon Bōru Sūpā) (commonly abbreviated as DBS) is the fourth anime installment in the Dragon Ball franchise, which ran from July 5th, 2015 to March 25th, 2018. It is set between Dragon Ball Z episodes 288 and 289 and is the first Dragon Ball television series featuring a new storyline in 18 years since the final episode of Dragon Ball GT in 1997. A Dragon Ball Super manga was being produced alongside the anime. The series is developed by Toei, in a similar process to the Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT animes and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ films. The series plot takes place after the Kid Buu Saga, in between the ten-year gap towards the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament.

Overview
The series' plot begins showing the aftermath of the Majin Buu Saga, then proceeds to retell and alter the stories of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ as new story arcs. The next part of Super following this takes place in the Universe 6 with the Dragon Team searching for the Super Dragon Balls.

Bulma 布马
（日语：ブルマ；英语：Bulma），日本漫画作家鸟山明的漫画《龙珠》原作与改编的系列中登场的人物。也是系列中主角·孙悟空的第一位同伴。万能胶囊公司董事长布里夫博士的女儿，IQ极高的天才科学家。为得到浪漫的爱情而收集龙珠、并与孙悟空等人展开大冒险。起初与雅木茶为男女朋友，后因忍受不了雅木茶沾花惹草而分手。那美克星篇结束后与贝吉塔先后生下了特兰克斯与布拉。
Bulma (ブルマ, Buruma) first appears as a teenager using the Dragon Radar, a fictional device she created to detect the energy signal emitted by Dragon Balls. She is led to Goku's location by the signal emitted by the four-star ball in his possession and recruits him as a bodyguard while hoping to get his four-star ball to grant her wish for a boyfriend. She gives up on the wish after meeting Yamcha, and much later in the series, she marries Vegeta. Bulma has also assumed the role of inventor and has consistently provided critical tech support to Goku and his friends in their battles against various enemies and threats throughout the series. Some of her notable innovations include a microband that could make her shrink and a time machine that brought her son from an alternate future timeline, Trunks, to the past on multiple occasions.

Trunks 特兰克斯

Trunks (トランクス Torankusu) is a Human-type Earthling/Saiyan hybrid, the firstborn child and only son of Vegeta and Bulma and the older brother of Bulla.
Gotenks 悟天克斯

Gotenks (ゴテンクス Gotenkusu), previously known as Trunkten, is the immensely powerful fusion of Goten and Trunks successfully using the Fusion Dance, and the first successful fusion dance character to be seen in the Dragon Ball series. He likes to call himself, "The Hero of Justice", "Mack Daddy of Justice"', or "Grim Reaper of Justice". Gotenks is a fusion taught to Goten and Trunks by Goku and is later trained by Piccolo. He is one of the fusions performed through the use of the Fusion Dance technique. The dance is a special type of fusion ability, a connection through the fusees fingers. The fusees need to perform a special type of pose, then connect their index fingers evenly to produce a perfect fusion. He, like Gogeta, is summoned out of desperation to defeat powerful enemies. In Gotenks' case, this enemy is Majin Buu and later in the saga, he is to be used by Super Buu as his main power source when Gotenks is absorbed.
Chi-Chi 琪琪
琪琪，日本经典动漫《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色。牛魔王的女儿、孙悟空的妻子。幼时与孙悟空在火焰山相遇，并定下婚约。后在第23届天下第一武道会上与已成年的孙悟空重逢并完婚，婚后育有两子—孙悟饭、孙悟天。婚后的琪琪成为典型的教育型妈妈，但依然有着贤妻良母的一面。
Chi-Chi (チチ) is Goku's wife, Gohan and Goten's mother, and Pan's grandmother. She and Goku first meet as children when her father, the Ox-King, asks Goku to take her to Master Roshi's house. In a misunderstanding, Goku promises to marry her. Years later, she confronts him about his promise at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, and they get married. As the matriarch of the family, she is depicted as being overprotective of Gohan's well-being and wishes to interrupt Goku's lifestyle of fighting and constant conflict. She relaxes her stance with her younger son Goten, even training him herself.
Chaozu 餃子
日本经典动漫《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色，Z战士之一，能够使用超能力。原是鹤仙人的徒弟，在第22届天下第一武道会结束后，受到龟仙人教导，从而改邪归正，与师兄天津饭一同成为了孙悟空等人的伙伴，跟随悟空等人对抗比克大魔王，赛亚人等强大的对手，最后是跟天津饭一起生活。(餃子チャオズ), Chiaotzu in the English anime dub, is a small human that resembles a jiangshi with pale skin, red cheeks, and has one hair under his hat. Although he is not physically strong, Chiaotzu is skilled with psychokinesis and telepathy. Chiaotzu is first introduced at the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament, having been trained by Master Roshi's rival Master Shen, trying to kill Goku and his fellow-students. After Tien Shinhan decides that Master Shen's teachings are wrong, the two leave him and join Goku and his companions to defeat King Piccolo. After assisting Tien Shinhan and Master Roshi in finding the Dragon Balls, Chiaotzu is killed by King Piccolo while trying to thwart his wish for eternal youth, but is later revived using the Dragon Balls. In the battle against the Saiyans, he ineffectively self-destructs on Nappa in order to save Tien Shinhan. He trains in the afterlife under King Kai before being revived by the Namekian Dragon Balls. Chiaotzu joins the other characters when they gather for Frieza's return, but Trunks kills Frieza before a fight ensues. Chiaotzu is generally no longer involved in battle from that point onwards, although he continues to train with Tien Shinhan.
Yamcha 饮茶

He becomes nervous when near women. He eventually becomes Goku's ally, starts a relationship with Bulma, and later becomes a pupil of Master Roshi. His signature attack is the Rōgafūfūken (狼牙風風拳, "Fist of the Wolf Fang", renamed to "Wolf Fang Fist" in the Funimation dub), a physical barrage of punches and palm strikes, ending with a double palm strike. As a result of training under Master Roshi, Yamcha is able to perform the Kamehameha and develops the Sōkidan (繰気弾, "Spinning Chi Bullet"), an energy sphere directed by psychokinesis. He also later trains under Kami to prepare for the impending Saiyan invasion, but is killed by one of their Saibamen. Before being wished back to life by the Namekian Dragon Balls, he trained under King Kai in the afterlife. He remains as a regular member of the Dragon Team, but gradually becomes less active later in the series. Puar 普尔
（日文名：プーアル、英文名：PUARU）是日本经典漫画《龙珠》及其衍生动画《龙珠》《龙珠Z》《龙珠GT》《龙珠改》《龙珠超》等作品中的配角，该角色根据中国普洱茶命名，由渡边菜生子配音。动物型地球人、超能力者。曾与乌龙共同就读于南部变身幼稚园，后与雅木茶成为好伙伴，在沙漠中遇到寻找龙珠的孙悟空与布尔玛等人，并与其成为好朋友。
Pu'ar (プーアル, Pūaru), Puar in the Funimation anime dub, Pu-erh in their subtitles, and named Squeakers in the Harmony Gold dub, is a soft-spoken blue creature and Yamcha's companion. Puar's abilities consist of levitation and shapeshifting. He and Oolong went to the same shapeshifting school together, where he was constantly mocked by Oolong. When first introduced, he and Yamcha operate as bandits in a desert, where they encounter Goku, Bulma, and Oolong. At first they tail and assist the group in order to steal the Dragon Balls they are collecting, though they later reform and befriend the trio. When Goku transforms into a giant ape for the first time in the series, Puar transforms into a pair of scissors and cuts off his tail to turn him back to his regular state. Together with Upa, Puar defeats Dracula Man while competing in Baba Uranai's tournament. The character's name is a pun on pu'er tea and was designed to slightly resemble a cat.
Oolong 乌龙
乌龙（日文名：乌龙、英文名：Uron、又译：小八戒），日本漫画《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色。外型是一只小猪，动物型地球人。该角色根据《西游记》中的猪八戒为原型及中国茶叶乌龙茶命名
Oolong (ウーロン, Ūron), named Mao-Mao in the Harmony Gold dub, is a shapeshifting, anthropomorphic pig that uses his abilities for his greedy desires. He and Puar went to the same shapeshifting school together before he was expelled for stealing the teacher's panties; as such, he can only change his form for five minutes at a time, requiring a one-minute break afterwards. Oolong joins Goku and Bulma to search for the Dragon Balls and eventually steal them but abandons this plan. He makes the first shown wish with the Dragon Balls: a pair of panties. Oolong plays a minor role as the series progresses, where he is often in the company of Master Roshi.
Marron
Marron (マーロン Māron) is the daughter of Krillin and Android 18. As a baby and little girl, she resembles her father: she has his eye shape and lack of nose. In Dragon Ball Super, Marron's appearance remains largely the same but her hairstyle was changed from pigtails to a mushroom-style haircut. She also wears earrings. Despite being seven in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, Marron has not grown. Likely due to her father's genetics, Marron's growth was delayed.
Videl 比迪丽
比迪丽（ビーデル、Videl），日本经典动漫《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色，撒旦先生的独生女。实力不错，为人有正义感，喜欢维护正义，时常帮助警察们捉贼和救人，后来机缘巧合结识青年孙悟饭，学会舞空术，并与悟饭相爱。在消灭魔人布欧不久后，嫁给了孙悟饭，生有一女小芳。
Videl (ビーデル Bīderu) is the daughter of Mr. Satan and Miguel, the wife of Gohan and the mother of Pan. Initially, Videl is a headstrong, independent, fierce, tough and tomboyish girl who was raised with fame all around her where she is also feisty and stubborn, much like Chi-Chi. Videl is quite perceptive as she had doubts about her father's claims of defeating Cell and correctly deduced that Gohan was both the mysterious "Golden Fighter" and Great Saiyaman, as well as ultimately coming to suspect that Gohan was the boy who fought Cell Games. She was also crafty enough to get Gohan to accidentally reveal he was Great Saiyaman, which she uses to blackmail him.
Pan 小芳
小芳（パン），女，日本经典动漫《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的女性角色，孙悟空和琪琪的孙女、孙悟饭和比迪丽的女儿，初次登场于打败魔人布欧的十年后，即龙珠漫画518话。小芳从小跟着她的爷爷孙悟空修炼，所以在四岁时就已经拥有很强的战斗力，之后参加了第28届天下第一武道会，同时小芳有很强的好胜心，孙悟空曾说她是“我们家最努力的”。
Pan (パン Pan) is the granddaughter of Earth's hero, Goku and the world champion, Mr. Satan. Her heritage is primarily Earthling, being the offspring of the Saiyan-Earthling hybrid Gohan and the Earthling Videl, thus making her a quarter-Saiyan. She's been stated to have inherited Gohan's great potential.
Kibito Kai 杰比特神
杰比特神是日本漫画《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色，是东界王神和杰比特用耳环合体而成的，实力大幅度增强，同时多了恢复体力的技能。在《龙珠超》中，杰比特神通过那美克星龙珠，使自己重新分裂为东界王神和杰比特。（《龙珠超》的剧情前接布欧篇，后接Z的结局；《龙珠GT》的剧情前接Z的结局。两部的剧情、世界观并不相接。）
Kibito Kai (キビト神 Kibitoshin) is a result of Potara Fusion between Shin and his servant Kibito.
Old Kai 老界王神
Old Kai (老界王神 Rō Kaiōshin, lit. "Old God of the Kings of the Worlds") is a Potara fusion between the Old Witch and the Supreme Kai of the fifteenth generation, though he is usually just referred to as Elder Kai, or Great Lord Kaioshin (大界王神 様 Dai Kaiōshin Sama, lit. "Great God of the Kings of the Worlds") in the Japanese anime. A lecherous but wise and mostly upstanding deity, he serves as an advisor to the current Supreme Kai and acts as an important supporting character throughout most of the series.

King Kai 北界王

King Kai (界かい王おう様さま Kaiō-sama, lit. "King of Worlds") is the North Kai (北きたの界かい王おう Kita no Kaiō, lit. "North King of Worlds") and king of Universe 7's North Area. A comedy lover and brilliant mentor, he acts as Goku's Martial Arts teacher and instructs him in using the Kaio-ken and the Spirit Bomb. He later teaches Krillin, Yamcha, Tien Shinhan, Piccolo, and Chiaotzu and continues to act as a major supporting character throughout the majority of the series.
Bubbles 巴布魯斯
巴布鲁斯，日本漫画《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色。北界王的宠物。
Bubbles (バブルス Baburusu) is the monkey pet and friend of King Kai. He serves a special purpose during King Kai's training lessons, particularly one of two endurance tests, where trainees are instructed to chase after Bubbles in an effort to catch him. Gregory 古雷格利

Gregory (グレゴリー Guregorī) is a levitating cricket sprite that acts as King Kai's butler and looks after him. Gregory is a small dark green cricket like humanoid, with an upright posture, antenna, and bug like eyes, he also has a tail like protrusion at the bottom of his torso. After Cell blew up King Kai's Planet, Gregory has been seen with a halo.
Dende 丹迪
丹迪（デンデ，Dende），日本经典动漫《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色，和神仙以及比克大魔王一样，丹迪也是那美克星人。初次登场是在弗利萨篇，是小林和悟饭将他从弗利萨的魔掌中救了出来，所以他们成了朋友。后来，他被弗利萨杀死，但是由于龙珠，他又再次复活了。神仙和短笛合体后，他成了地球的神仙，并且制造出更强的龙珠。他不是像短笛那样的战斗型的那美克星人，但是他能治愈任何类型的伤口。
Dende (デンデ Dende) is a Namekian with a unique gift that allows him to heal others. He is the 108th son of Grand Elder Guru. On Goku's request, Dende becomes the Earth's Guardian in Kami's place. He continues his role as Guardian for the rest of the series, helping the protagonists during their adventures whenever he can.
Mr. Satan 撒旦先生
撒旦先生，日本经典动漫《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色，是一名格斗家、武术教练。其本名为马克（Mark），“撒旦先生”为他在格斗界的艺名。多次获得天下第一武道会冠军。
Mr. Satan (ミスター・サタン Misutā Satan), also known as Hercule Satan in the Funimation dub, is the World Martial Arts Champion and the Earth's protector. His real name is Mark (マーク Māku). Mr. Satan is a tall man of a rather muscular and hairy physique and tends to adopt an imposing appearance when seen in public. His black curly Afro, mustache, and well-trimmed sideburns are among his most recognizable traits, as well as his cleft chin. Mr. Satan typically is seen in his martial arts uniform or in fitted suits but has been known to wear more luxurious clothing when resting or making public appearances. His gi is often accented with either a red or white cape depending on which gi he dons, and his notably hairy chest and arms are usually displayed openly. In the end of Dragon Ball Z and throughout Dragon Ball GT, his black curly afro is now in half as the center of his head is naturally bald and a few wrinkles due to his age. In his later years, his mustache now connects to his sideburns. In Dragon Ball Super, Mr. Satan's muscular physique has visibly weakened as a result of indulging in his fame over keeping up with his training, though he otherwise remains the same as his appearance in Dragon Ball Z.
Majin Buu 胖布欧
胖布欧 亦正亦邪，后期（纯粹善）。吸收了南界王神和大界王神后的形态。衣着与体型呈现的是大界王神的特征。之后被比比迪封印，但多年后被巴比迪利用孙悟空和贝吉塔战斗的能量唤醒。幼稚天真，知识与认知能力有限，贪吃贪玩，没有善恶的判断力与倾向，凭着单纯的取乐心态去战斗与破坏。因为与撒旦的相遇而开始改邪归正。将瘦布欧排斥出体外之后被对方反过来吸收。之后被贝吉塔在大布欧体内解除吸收，在界王神界被小布欧吐出体外，与小布欧搏斗不敌但争取了元气弹形成时间。原始布欧被消灭后，撒旦教会了他善与恶的衡量标准，改名为布欧先生，在撒旦家过着快乐的生活 。布欧可通过修炼提升实力同时会改变外型。
Good Buu (魔ま人じんブウ（善ぜん） Majin Bū (Zen), lit. "Demon Person Boo (Good)"), also known mainly as Majin Buu, is the result of the Innocent Buu using fission to split into good and evil halves. He would go on to become a member of the Z Fighters and live with Mr. Satan. After the battle against the pure Majin Buu, Buu is referred to as Buu instead of Majin Buu and to the world he becomes Mr. Buu. Good Buu possesses the Grand Supreme Kai (大だい界かい王おう神しん Dai Kaiōshin, lit. "Great God of the Kings of the Worlds*) as part of his being and eventually temporarily awakened this part of himself.
Ox-King 牛魔王

Gyū-Maō (牛魔王, lit "Ox Demon King"), known as Ox-King in the English anime dub, is the wealthy owner of a castle on Frypan Mountain (フライパン山, Furaipan-yama) and Chi-Chi's father. He is loosely based on the Bull Demon King from Journey to the West. He was trained in martial arts by Master Roshi alongside Goku's adoptive grandfather, Grandpa Gohan. Despite his imposing name and stature, he possesses a gentle and laid-back personality in contrast to Chi-Chi.

Bikini (ビキニ) is the wife of Dr. Brief, the mother of Tights and Bulma, the mother-in-law of Vegeta, and the maternal grandmother of Trunks and Bulla. Bikini went unnamed in the original manga, anime and guidebooks, only ever being referred to as Bulma's mother (ブルマのママ Buruma no mama). In an interview, Toriyama noted that had he named her he probably would have gone with Panchy (パンチー Panchī), which was later used as her name in Dragon Ball SD.

Kame 乌龟
Turtle (ウミガメ Umigame, lit. "Sea Turtle") is Master Roshi's friend and long-time companion. The good-natured, lovable turtle lives in Kame House with the elderly hermit.
Bee
(ベエ Bē) is a Labrador owned by Mr. Satan and Good Buu. Bee is a small greyish Labrador Retriever with black eyes. Ten years after the encounter with the Majin, Bee has gotten bigger and older.
Shenron 神龙
神龙，日本经典动漫《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色。传说，世界上散落着7颗龙珠，各有一至七颗不等的五角星标记，集齐7颗龙珠念出咒语，就能召唤神龙，并能向其许一个愿望神龙实现愿望后，7颗龙珠便会自动飞散，变成石头，一年后才可再次使用。《龙珠超》追加新设定：龙珠因制造者的能力，龙珠数量也是不定的；超级龙珠和地球龙珠不一样。
Shénlóng (神龍, Shenron, lit. "Dragon God"), Shenron in Funimation's anime dub, also known as the Eternal Dragon in the Ocean and Funimation dubs and as the Dragon God in the Harmony Gold dub, is the wish-granting dragon summoned when all seven of Earth's Dragon Balls are gathered together. Throughout the series, several rules on the Dragon Balls' use and limitations on Shenron's power are explained. After the wish is granted the balls scatter across the planet, turn to stone, are useless for a year, and cannot be detected by Bulma's Dragon Radar.
