Dragon Ball (Japanese: ドラゴンボール, Hepburn: Doragon Bōru) is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation. It is an adaptation of the first 194 chapters of the manga of the same name created by Akira Toriyama, which were published in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995. The anime is composed of 153 episodes that were broadcast on Fuji TV from February 1986 to April 1989. It was broadcast in 81 countries worldwide. It is part of the Dragon Ball media franchise.

《龙珠》（日语：ドラゴンボール，英语：Dragon Ball），改编自日本漫画作家鸟山明在集英社刊载的同名漫画《龙珠》第001话至第194话的内容的电视动画节目，被这个系列的影迷通称“无印”或“初代”。于1986年2月26日至1989年4月19日在富士电视台播放，总共153话播映结束之后的故事是由《龙珠Z》接续下去。



World Martial Arts Tournament Saga
Goku undergoes rigorous training under the martial artist Master Roshi in order to fight in the World Martial Arts Tournament (天下一武道会, "Tenkaichi Budōkai") that attracts the most powerful fighters in the world. A monk named Krillin becomes his training partner and rival, but they soon become best friends.


修行之旅篇第001话~第083
话孙悟空被布尔玛带出深山一起寻找龙珠，在结束搜寻后与小林一起拜龟仙人为师学习武术，修行完毕后两人参加第21届天下第一武道会，最后悟空在决赛败给由龟仙人假扮的陈龙后又在此开始寻找龙珠，但是在搜寻途中却遇上意图利用龙珠征服世界的红缎带军团。由于悟空打倒红缎带军团多个将领，红缎带军团聘用桃白白来应对，悟空也因此被打败，后来接受加林神的修练，成功打倒桃白白并且消灭红缎带军团。

The World Tournament Announcer
The World Tournament Announcer (天下一武道会アナウンサー Tenkaichi Budōkai Anaunsā, lit. "The Number One Under Heaven Martial Arts Gathering Announcer") is the man who hosts every World Martial Arts Tournament from the beginning of Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball GT. Along with commentating, he sometimes acts as a referee for tournament matches other than the preliminary matches, usually counting when a contestant is down.

World Tournament Chairman
World Tournament Chairman (武ぶ道どう寺でら館かん長ちょう Budōdera Kanchō, lit. "Martial Arts Temple Director") is the director of the World Martial Arts Tournament.

Master Roshi as Jackie Chun
Master Roshi (武む天てん老ろう師し Muten Rōshi, lit. "Old Heavenly Martial Arts Master"), also known as the Turtle Hermit (亀かめ仙せん人にん Kame Sen'nin) (or Turtle ( Kame)[6] in his youth) and God of Martial Arts (武道の神様 Budō no Kami-sama), is a perverted hermit and a master of martial arts. He lives on his own isolated island called Kame House, where he may be willing to train students who travel to his doorstep. He is also the originator of the Kamehameha Wave.When disguised as Jackie Chun, Master Roshi glues a wig of white hair onto his head.

Bacterian 野蛮人（バクテリアン）
巴特利安，日本漫画《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色。他能用他可怕的体臭打败他的敌人，因为他有生以来根本没有洗过澡。攻击方式有口臭、放屁、吐痰。他是第21届天下第一武道会的一个参赛者，在八分之一决赛中和克林交手。起初，克林也因为他的体臭而处于下风。但后来，孙悟空提醒小林说克林是没有鼻子的，根本不能闻到臭味。克林恢复过来后，很容易就打败了他。后来，他被比克大魔王的手下铃鼓杀死了。在孙悟空打败比克大魔王后，又被神龙复活了。Bacterian (バクテリアン Bakuterian) is a filthy, giant and dirty Earthling that competed in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament. He has the reputation of never taking a bath or brushing his teeth in his entire life. He uses this stench he has gained as a tactical advantage in fighting, making his opponents only fight with one hand, since they have to use their other one to hold their nose.

Nam 南无（ナム）
那木，日本经典动漫《龙珠》里的角色，第21届天下第一武道会前八强选手，因家乡缺水而参赛，为赢得冠军得到奖金买水，与龟仙人结识，后化妆骗过雅木茶为龟仙人隐藏身份。后来在孙悟空消灭魔人布欧的时候，在撒旦先生的号召下，他和村里其他人一起给悟空元气打败小布欧。
Nam (ナム Namu) is a warrior from a desert village that competes in World Martial Arts Tournaments. Nam is a fairly tall man with brown skin, a long face, small beady eyes, and a small red dot on his forehead known as a bindi. He wears a white turban and an orange and maroon robe similar to the traditional garbs worn by Indian and Thai Buddhist monks. Years later, Nam grows a fully-grown black beard.

Giran 基朗（ギラン）
基朗，日本经典动漫《龙珠》及其衍生作品中的角色，第二十一届天下第一武道会的八强选手之一，基朗一族的族长。
Giran (ギラン Giran) is a Giras that entered the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament. Although he is initially hostile against Goku and his companions, he later reforms and comes to respect Goku and even cooperates with him on more than one occasion. Giran is ruthless, intelligent, and strategic.

Ranfan 兰芳（ランファン）
兰芳是日本经典动漫《七龙珠》中的人物。在孙悟空一行人第一次参加天下第一武道会时登场，是打入前八强选手中唯一的女性选手。是一个武艺高强的美女，第二十一届天下第一武道大会的八强选手，在八强比赛中与那木对阵，失败。
Ranfan (ランファン Ranfan) is a competitor in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament. Ranfan has a very flirtatious personality as she winks and sweet talks when she needs to. She seems to not mind showing off her body to gain an advantage as shown in her fight against Nam. Though she seems somewhat antagonistic in the fight she is shown to not be a bad person after losing the fight as she even helps find Goku when he was missing before his fight against Giran. She apparently dislikes "little twerps" and has a hobby of collecting underwear.

Bullies of the Orin Temple
Bullies of the Orin Temple (多林寺の先輩達 Ōrinji no senpai-tachi, lit. "Seniors of the Multi-Forest Temple") are a group of veteran monks from Orin Temple.

Great Lee
 (グレート・リー Gurēto Rī, lit. "Great Lee"), also known as the Bruce Lee Impersonator, is a character who bears a resemblance to the real-life martial artist Bruce Lee.He is not a parody of Bruce Lee himself, but rather a parody of the Bruce Lee lookalikes who appeared in numerous "Bruceploitation" knock-off films that came after Lee's death in 1973. Akira Toriyama was a fan of Bruce Lee, citing his films such as Enter the Dragon as a major influence behind his creation of Dragon Ball, but he did not like the later "Bruceploitation" knock-off films. Later in the series, adult Goku's pose and piercing glare in Super Saiyan form was based on the real-life Bruce Lee.

Fighter 69
He is first seen fighting Yamcha in a dojo in "Milk Delivery" (scene present only in the anime). At the World Tournament, Fighter 69 is first seen lifting a huge weight before his fight. When he saw Goku was his opponent, he and the rest of the audience thought that it was a joke. Goku then pushed him with one finger, causing him to lose balance and fall out of the ring, surprising him and everyone in the room watching (most of which assumed it was luck).

Fighter 97
Fighter 97 is an anthropomorphic bear with a British English accent who wears a karate gi who lost in the Elimination Round of the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament. He was first seen in the audience laughing along with the other fighters because of Goku's size when he was going to fight Fighter 69 and later seen amazed when Krillin beat the Orin Temple Bully. He made it to the final elimination round which would have resulted in being in the tournament but he was set up against Krillin. Krillin easily beat him by kicking him straight in the face where he fell to the ground and raised a white flag forfeiting the match.


Mermaid 美人鱼
Master Roshi asked Goku to find and bring him a pretty girl, and if he did, he would train him. Goku brought her back to the island on the Flying Nimbus, where Roshi proceeded to hit on her, though he was put off by the tail at first. She then punched him and jumped back into the ocean. Her riding on the Flying Nimbus when Master Roshi met her indicates that she was pure of heart.
