Diversions of 2022 Q1

Words aside, let me go straight into the diversion of 2022 Q1.

I'm hooked on love-themed variety shows that some may seem staged but just like the scripted, it's meant for their purpose, especially when I get to 嗑CP, which is meant to enjoy their budding romance.

Rewatched some inspirational idol drafting varieties that bring back so many memories, 

yes, just two girls' group idol drafts that I've watched.

Finally queued and watched some top films that I've noticed in the short films flash through videos.

So I was actually looking at Rockets Girls 101 content that randomly popped up as a suggestion on Youtube and I found the 1st love-themed variety Sunnee杨芸晴 starred in. From there, the streak begins!

恋综 (恋爱综艺) :

怦然心动20岁 Twinkle Love

Personal thoughts: This is my first 恋综 and it's an unique one, with all of the guests in their 20s. 

So literally its a 校园恋爱综艺. The highlight of the show should be Jam Hsiao diehard supporting one of the guests 王正卓/阿卓 as 阿卓 slowly matures up in his love line towards 朱非儿/鹅鹅. As a guest host, Jam Hsiao was kinda clinging onto his role as indeed, these genres of variety make you wanna watch further and find out how they progress. It's a first for me and the start of this new genre.

Personal thoughts: In its first edition and based in Shanghai, 8 young adults were placed in the house of love to stay together for a month. I personally support 胡金铭 and 周游 so it is a happy ending they got together by the end of the show. Outside of the show, I heard they broke up so no more 西红柿CP. Also, it's one of Yang Chaoyue's first variety show appearances since her official debut.

Personal thoughts: Based in Beijing. Even though 吴翔威 didn't get together with 杨凯雯 but I think she found true love through this show with 赵琦君. To date, one of the sweetest CP that keep 撒狗粮 over different platforms and even attended a variety show together. One of the most memorable moments was when 吴翔威 and 赵琦君, both suitors of 杨凯雯 in a fair competition, had a handshake and hug the day before Confession Day. Once again, Yang Chaoyue is here again!

Personal thoughts: Based in Chengdu. Yang Chaoyue is back for the third edition, 三代元老, and has proven why she's a lock for views. She's smart, high variety sense, and is a feast to the eyes. Her dissing on 丁禹兮 is full of entertainment. This season is kinda boring with very low CP value. The only highlight is the hosts' discussion, including 沈梦辰 coming over to 代班 host and boyfriend 杜海涛 while he's away and perhaps the guest, 钟佩妍 for her suave attitude. Oh ya, and 张翰's 姨夫笑, the satisfactory of an elder when seeing the younger gen doing well.

Personal thoughts: Based in Shenzhen, they probably heard the feedback and this season, they got really good guests in. To be based in Shenzhen, the locals have a funny accent that is different from previous seasons, especially Beijing's very proper mandarin Chinese accent. In this edition, we have love at first sight and through the whole season, I've been rooting for 陈思铭 and 方彬涵, the 方程式CP.

The triangle between 马子佳, 洪成成 and 孔汝淳 was very torturous too, be it scripted or not, it definitely brought me to that stage where I wished things could be simpler. Oh yes, 奇闻CP is here to support too!

半熟恋人 (第一季) Love Actually

Personal thoughts: The opposite of 怦然心动20岁Twinkle Love, this variety targets adults aged 30+ and to my surprise, the love line in 30+ is very different from the 20s obviously. People are more daring and they care a lot more about others' feelings. Their words usage exemplifies empathy to its fullest. 

During the hosts' conversation, I found out that the main host 谢楠 is actually the wife of the famous action filmstar Wu Jing 吴京! 2 very interesting couples who got together here, 1st if the 王能能(Terrence) and 罗拉, both of them are coincidentally divorced with a child aged 7, which is so fated. 

2nd CP is the 黄瑞恩(Ryann) and 罗颖(历历), the 瑞历CP! Both of them kinda love at first sight too and despite all the disturbs and interruptions from one other guest, they eventually made it to the end and got together outside of the show.

我们恋爱吧 (第一季) Relationship 1

Personal thoughts: Since I'm on the love wave now so I cannot skip this variety show! First of all, the host 孟非爷爷 is the OG of love variety shows, he hosted the famous 《非诚勿扰》in 2010, the Chinese version of Take Me Out, which features an open blind date in the form of the program. 6 guests would first come into the Love house and stay for a night before embarking on a 1-week cruise journey, which at the end of the journey, guests can choose to leave together. Guests who didn't get together will return to the house for a debrief before the second part of season 1 begins.

So 3 guests 陈强, 郑竣严(南方), and 聂墨仪 didn't get a love line so they returned for the second part where 3 other guests would join them at the love house for 1 night's stay before getting onto the cruise the next day. The highlight of this season would be 1) The brotherhood between 陈强 and 南方. Both of them are very dull and slow in relationships, but they always wish the best out for each other, which triggers many touching moments. And 2) 陈强 and 聂墨仪, the 沉默 CP. They were a CP in the first part but despite 墨墨's hints and signals, 陈强 remains slow to react. They eventually returned on the second part and 陈强 finally took steps out of his comfort zone. They only got together 1 year after the show ended and returned in Season 2's end to announce the good news. My favorite CP out of all the different love-themed variety shows.

我们恋爱吧 (第二季) Relationship 2

Personal thoughts: Back to the familiar mode; 1 month stay in Love house and based in Sanya. A lot of dropouts in this season, the most I've ever seen so far at three! Not many sparks in this season except for the 朱芳颉(小朱) and 赵云帆(云帆) 煮饭CP.  This was also the period 郑爽 got exposed and removed from the entertainment industry, thus leaving the host teams after 3 episodes. 

我们恋爱吧 (第三季) Relationship 3

Personal thoughts: Based in Yunnan, Dali, the Love house and place is such a dream place. This season, they got 2 very suspicious guests, 1 being a Miss Asia beauty pageant 高文君 and the other being 王嘉兴, like an X Lover who isn't really here to fall in love. He seems more like a mediator. Even though, they made the show better.

喜欢你我也是 (第二季) Yes, I do 2

Personal thoughts: I really love how this show is very different from all of the rest I've watched in descending order. This is the only show I remember that arranges all the guests to watch a flashback of their first meetup and all the dates on their last day. I think the memories flashback is super touching.

Also, it's one of the shows that I almost never skip the hosts' discussion. Usually, I was too eager to continue the show and watch the love story goes on but 张绍刚 along with other hosts gives sometimes meaningful and valuable discussions that make me wanna hear them out. 

The guests of 喜欢你我也是 (第二季)

Yes yes yes, the girl on the right is 王晴, a participant in Produce 101 China 创造101, who because of suspected dark messages, made her ranking take a deep dive and got eliminated in the 2nd elimination stage. 

In the show, Super暖男马健星 and 王晴 connected the love line on Ep 10 and formed the 星晴CP!!

But the reality is harsh, love at first sight or ideal type may not be suitable in the long run.

What a fate, from both being contestants in the same temporary group of Hao Girls to one being a host-guest and the other being a guest participant. 

And since we're on Produce 101 China 创造101, that's onto the second part of which I'm talking about in the introduction: "Rewatched some inspirational idol drafting varieties that bring back so many memories,  yes, just two girls' group idol drafts that I've watched."

Personal thoughts: I realised the huge television broadcasting channels usually jump onto the ship of similar successful genres very fast. 2019 is a year full of similar love-variety shows. We have 吴宣仪 here, while there's 杨超越, 王菊, and Sunnee杨芸晴 on the others. We could tell the effect of 创造101 Produce 101 China doing its work, increasing 流量 for producers to have them.

吴宣仪和杨超越一定可以永居娱乐圈，拥有高颜值，综艺实力，高流量，会演戏的偶像，就算是火箭少女101解散后，她们都还是有娱乐圈这碗饭吃，还吃的很香。代言作品邀约不断。

Back to the show while I'm on episode 1, I don't like how it is different from the rest I've watched but maybe since it's a pioneer so they don't realise it. They started off fetching the guests one by one on a bus, first all 4 males and later the 3 female guests. That's already forcing them to take seats by judging based on pure looks. So if this segment is love at first sight, I think it is kinda not working as one of the female guests chose a seat based on her preference that she usually takes the backseat on a bus.

I would prefer them to all meet in the house so people can start observing everyone and be involved in the small mini conversations together. Feels better that way to me. 

So it takes courage and bravery to break the "original pairing" on the bus.
